Ladies, know thy periods…
By tracking your periods, you have a good guide to know where you are in Perimenopause. Let me explain.
The signs of Perimenopause!!
In the earlier phase of Perimenopause, periods can get heavier (ack), when progesterone begins to lower naturally and/or unnaturally from stress. Remember, that means estrogen dominance and there are foods and supplements that you can take to abate this effect.
It’s also common that the cycle length becomes a little shorter, so maybe 26 days instead of 28…and then as you progress through Perimenopause, cycle length may become a little longer. 30 days, etc
There may be other symptoms along with heavy periods like extra cramping, or PMS that you haven’t had since you were a teenager 🙄, acne and tender breasts. — Remember these can be helped with the right foods and supplementation. Bio identical hormones can be effective for those who want to use them.
Menopause is “official” when you haven’t had a period for 12 months, It’s technically only one day. Another reason it’s important to track. Whether you write it on a paper calendar, digital calendar or use an app, just do it. Track. It will give you peace of mind.
There are many period tracking apps out there. I’ve used one called Clue on Iphone (free version) for a while. It’s user-friendly and has good visuals for me. So pick whatever method/platform you like.
Keeping track gives you clues.
Maybe you’ll start to notice you’re moody on day 24, or extra emotional on day 26 and then your period comes on day 28. It’s a way to keep track of yourself, not just your periods. It can also give you some grace and patience for yourself when you cry all of the sudden at that sappy commercial. Don’t be tough, just let it out.
If you’re realizing this is you, and you’re having some of the symptoms, congratulations you are in perimenopause! Most of you are excited at the thought of no longer having periods to deal with, but some of you are terrified because you still want more babies.
Either way, you can do something about it! Hop into our Powerful Peimnopause FB Group where we discuss all these things. 👉👉 Powerful Perimenopause
I was reading a health history of mine that I did 10 years ago, and I realized I was starting to experience Perimenopause then… I’m 48 now. I definitely did some things to help moderate and slow it down.
Why? Because estrogen has a lot of good health benefits from bone density and heart health to moist skin and an easily moist happy Lala.
You can have a moist Lala in the end of Peri and after menopause as well. Don’t let anyone tell you differently, it’s possible! It takes focus and intention and it’s worth it! It is a use it or lose it kind of thing down there, and using it keeps your pelvic floor in shape too!
Happy tracking!
